Mick Asmussen - Waypoint LLC

Mick Asmussen is a proud 3rd generation food broker. After graduating from St. John’s University with a B.A. in Economics, Mick began his career with Perlman Rocque – a systems foodservice distributor servicing McDonald’s both domestically and internationally. After a short stint there, Mick accepted a position with McDonald’s International and spent the next 7 years living in Southeast Asia developing new markets and managing supply chain innovation.In 1988 Mick returned home to join his Father in the family brokerage business - Roy A. Asmussen and Associates. Mick lead the company as President and CEO as it grew from the dominant local broker, the Asmussen Waxler Group, to a leading regional broker, Venture Marketing, to a super-regional broker, Midwest Venture Partners. And, ultimately, along with 7 strategically aligned brokers, Mick was a founding member of Waypoint LLC, the industry’s first national foodservice broker.

Throughout his career Mick has been an active industry participant serving on NFBA, ASMC, FSMA and IFMA boards and committees.

Mick met his wife Dym while living in Bangkok, they have been married for 30 years and together raised their son, Roy, and daughter, Claire. The family enjoys cooking, skiing, cycling, travel and fine dining.
